DC Future State Reviews

First time with a comic book event

This post is meant as a preview of the DC Comics Future State event between January and March of 2021.

I’ve never read all the releases in a single comic book event, so DC’s Future State feels like the perfect opportunity to do so. In fact, I’m sure it’s not lost on DC that Future State is very appealing to people like me who are now dipping their toes in the water.

Since I’m still a newbie to comics, it must be said that long-time comic book readers don’t seem to consider Future State a true comic book event at all. From what I’ve read online, it’s seen as a throwaway event or a ‘thematic publishing initiative’, since the comics aren’t fully interconnected.

I really need to recognize howtolovecomics.com for providing the best breakdown of Future State I could find online (seriously…it’s better than DC’s own website). Their post was a godsend for me and I’ll probably be referencing them a lot in the future.

As I read each completed comic, I’ll upload my review. There are a total of twenty-four comics (most of which have only two issues each), so hopefully I manage to review them all. If you’re a visual learner like me, the schedule below might be useful for you too.
